Some Sketches for Final

Mentor Artist for Final

Frida Khalo is who I decided to use as my mentor artist. She uses symbols through all her artworks and unifies the art by using similar lines in parts of the drawing. She dealt with a lot in her life, having physical illness and an abusive husband, so I feel in ways that our art may have similar goals to convey.

Subject and Theme for Final

The subject for this project is myself, with string wrapping around parts of my body unknowingly. I want to convey the theme of mental illness, how it weaves throughout and isolates you unseen, usually leading to more problems because it's not notice. I also wanna show that mental illness is still a part of you but doesn't make you who you are. So even though you maybe hindered, you're still you.

Gesture Drawings

Self Portrait

My story has to do with Arthurian legend, including lady of the lake and Excalibur. It wanted to convey an emotion of confidence and hierarchy. I wanted the picture to say, "this person is better then me."

Self Portrait- Reflecting on Others Work

I personally love this portrait because of how nice the anatomy is. Everything is proportional. I also like how this person decided to draw themselves with someone else. I like how they went above and beyond.
